A Weekend in Wales.

It was a long weekend this weekend so we decided to go to Wales... Two years ago Don ran a half marathon on the Gower Peninsula which has amazing beaches so we went back there to explore a bit. We stayed in this little Shepherds Hut.
It was a weekend of firsts for Baxter. His first big drive in the car - he did very well and only peed in the car once... His first visit to the beach - he LOVED it!
It was pretty cold and wet on Saturday so we went for a quick walk in the rain and wind and then went to a pub where they allow dogs and had a pint. We were then all a bit sleepy and headed home for an afternoon nap.
There was a pretty fierce game of scrabble with some good words coming out. The best had to be this one though...
The weather improved somewhat on Sunday so we went back to the beach and lay in the sun for the afternoon.
Baxter really really likes the beach.
The beach is obviously great for kite flying and other wind assisted fun.
We were a bit silly and forgot the sunscreen...

Anna's legs and Don's forehead saw the most of the sun.
We had breakfast this morning then went for one last walk on the beach before driving home.
At home we had a few hours of sunlight and moved all our tomato plants and Don set up some string to support them as they grow.

In other news. Baxter went to work a couple of days last week with Anna. He was so well behaved and all her work mates love having him there.
We had some great morning walks last week and these are a few of our favourite photos.

A Walk in the Park.

So Baxter is finally allowed in the park. We took him for his first walk last night...

We have bought him a lead but it hasn't arrived yet so we had to make do with rope. It was quite late when we went walking so the pictures are a bit fuzzy.
I took him again this morning.
and we saw some ducklings,
and some bluebells.
In other news... We got a great bargain on a couple of fruit trees which we picked up the other night. They were quite heavy to lift...
But look great in the garden.
Hopefully they fruit soon and we can have plums and apples for pudding after dinner.

We think maybe summer is here...

It has been the most beautiful day here today - 26 degrees... Don is in Scotland working and I have been hanging out in the garden again with Baxter.

We have decided try to make our garden a bit more comfortable and prettier... So I headed down to the garden shop this morning. Here are the results.

We are going to get a couple of fruit trees as well but I will wait till Don gets home for that.

While digging the garden I discovered why Baxter loves to dig here too... Who knows how long these bones have been here for but they obviously still smell pretty good

Baxter has also enjoyed getting into the vege garden so Don had the good idea of covering it... Everything seems to be enjoying the the covered warmth.
I have also replanted all the tomatoes which we grew from seeds - hopefully they like their now home outside and start fruiting soonish.
Don had a day off last week and carved this cool number for our door. Now the postman has no excuse for not finding us.

Dad and Mary kindly gave us a sewing machine for our wedding which we got delivered a few weeks ago. The first thing I made was a bed for Baxter to go outside. We got a bag of old towels from freecycle of which I sewed a couple together to make him a comfy nest for the shed.

Baxter has had his last vaccination so as of Tuesday is finally allowed out and about. We gave him a bit of a taste of the big wide world yesterday when we let him out the gate - I think he's going to love it!

We are hoping to get away next weekend for the Bank Holiday which will be great - I have been investigating place on the Gower Peninsula in Wales http://www.enjoygower.com

And of course what post would be complete without a hello and goodbye from Mr cuteness himself...

In the weekend...

Don was away filming the Great Manchester Run last weekend so Ping and Baxter hung out at home.
This is Baxter thinking he is a person trying to get on the chair.
And this is him trying to get on the table - moments before he fell off both...
Don has decided he needs to learn to stay outside and has got a chain for him. He doesn't like it very much.
We had out friends Dan and Leigh over for a BBQ Dunch (lunch/dinner) on Sunday. It was a bit wet so we had to create at makeshift awning.
Hopefully things warm up and the the sun shines soon!
